So we gathered for our last luncheon of the year at La Buvette, sponsored by Feltons, Chartered Accountants.
The Fare at this time of the year includes three courses, the main with bowls of frits in true french style, pudding and then coffee. A frivolous raffle took place where most won a prize of either and or scratch cards, bottles of bubbles and restaurant vouchers which set the atmosphere of fun and joviality in true Christmas Spirit.
Chairman John Hamblin welcomed everyone and gave a precis of the year.
Thanks were extended to Sally our Secretary, for her wonderful efforts with communications and organisation of the lunches, to Paul and Ben for their work on the Website and Twitter, raising the profile of the Club and making a presence on Social Media. In all a year of new adventures and engagements to be further built on in the coming year 2017.
Everybody joined John in thanking Bruce, our host at La Buvette and all the staff for their service and for looking after us in the past year.
Entertainment was supplied by close hand magician, Zap, The Magician
Member, Norman supplied his annual poem which with time restraints could not be delivered on the day, but is now produced for all below.
Richmond Lunch Club – 11th Anniversary
When it comes to networking
For top notch people and grub
There is only one place to go
The Richmond Luncheon Club
So, happy birthday Luncheon Club
You’ve reached the age of eleven
You give us so much pleasure
Some say we are in heaven.
So, thank you John and thank you Chris
For such a great idea
The Lunch Club is indeed the tops
And gets better every year.
Then there is the Higgins, Wenham and Glover
The ones with the welcoming smile
All that work behind the scenes
Makes it all worthwhile
So what about our members?
Some say a motley crew
I ‘m sure you will agree
That’s not exactly true
OK – we drink a lot
But what’s wrong with that?
It makes us more intr’esting
With our stories and our chat
You are very clever Luncheon Club
To pick Bruce and La Buvette
French cuisine at its very best
With meals we’ll never forget.
But a word of warning Lunch Club – a word of warning
Just because you reached eleven
I can see you are really buzzin’
But La Buvette is older still
They have just done a dozen.
So ladies and gentleman, I’ve said it before and I‘ll say it again
When it comes to networking
For top notch people and grub
There is only one place to go
The Richmond Luncheon Club
Wishing All a Very Happy Christmas Season and Happy New Year
